Deborah Fay is a respected publishing consultant. She is the founder and CEO at Disruptive Publishing and is a best-selling author in her own right, having written and contributed to several books.
Deborah has always loved reading and writing and wanted to be an author from an early age. She was 49 when she became an author for the first time, proving that you are never too old to realise a dream or to reinvent yourself. Her first self-publishing effort was a compilation book called Domestic Detox in which she collected, collated and published 14 stories from people who had gone to great lengths to remove the toxins from their diets and from their environments for a variety of reasons, including health, childhood development and behavioural challenges resulting from allergies and intolerances.
The next compilation book – Parenting a Child on the Spectrum – brought together 25 authors and was the result of a long-held vision. It has already been followed up with Part 2 Where Are They Now? for those who wrote, wanting to know what had happened to the families who had contributed.
In the last couple of years, Deborah has published several compilation books, including a school anthology put together with a local catholic school, and Disruptive Publishing currently has four more compilation projects in progress. Deborah says: “It’s not all we do at Disruptive Publishing, but it is something we do really well.” She believes that compilation books are a win for everyone involved and she can’t wait to tell us why.
